Rahul worked in a railway lab, maintaining atomic clocks, the most accurate clocks on Earth.
One night, he noticed something strange.
The clock on the roof was running slightly faster than the one in the basement.
Only by a tiny amount.
But it was real.
Einstein had already explained it:
time slows down where gravity is stronger.
The basement clock felt more gravity, so it ticked slower.
After weeks of working with these clocks, Rahul felt something odd.
Sometimes, he remembered checking data logs before opening them.
The numbers came to his mind first.
Then appeared on the screen.
It felt like the future.
But it wasn’t.
Time doesn’t move at the same speed everywhere.
Just like GPS satellites need clock correction to work properly, Rahul was dealing with different speeds of time in the same building.
One evening, he told his senior scientist about it.
She smiled and said:
“You’re not remembering tomorrow.
You’re just standing next to a slower clock.”
That day, Rahul understood something important.
